If you can't yet tell, I love gnomes.  I've made these sweet little gnomes for our home and I've made front porch gnomes to welcome all my guests.  Now I've got a great DIY for making a winter / holiday / Santa / Christmas gnome for your porch this year!

What you will need:

tomato cage
twine
ball or something to resemble a nose
large santa hat
evergreen, pine, etc branches

Start by setting your tomato cage upside down so it rests on it's circle.  The use some duct tape to tape together your tomato cages ends so they stay together.  Trim your branches a bit more to size so they are roughly the length of your tomato cage.  Use twine to tie your branches on your tomato cages.  I tied them in at least 2 places to make sure they were sturdy and stayed nice and tight to the cage.

Once you have enough branches tied on you can trim off the crazy branches that are sticking out or add in smaller branches here and there to fill in bare spots.

Once you have your gnome trimmed down to size you can add his details.  I took a large Santa hat and pulled it down as far as it would go.  Then I took a plastic kids toy baseball, covered it with some material and attached it to be his nose.  You can use anything that you can find or make that will resemble a nose.

Then he's ready for your front porch or to welcome all of your guests!  Isn't he just the cutest?   Happy holidays!
