I seriously love gnomes.  My kids hate them.  But how can you resist these little cute and curious guys?!

Ok, I admit though.  Some of the gnomes that my mom had were a little creepy, so we had to make some gnomes that everyone would like.

What you will need:

styrofoam cones
fuzzy slipper socks
shaggy fur material or a mop head
piece of material or sheet of felt
wood round balls
hot glue gun and glue

Start by cutting out and attach your felt or material to your cone.  Use enough felt to cover up about 2/3 of the cone starting from the bottom of the cone.

Next, cut out a piece of fur in a triangle shape to be your gnomes beard.  If you've never cut this type of fur before, it is a little different.  Cut your triangle bigger than you think you need.  Then use your glue gun to attach your gnomes beard to his body.

Alternatively, if you don't have fur or can't find any, grab a cheap mop from the dollar store and use that to make a cute beard for your gnome!  All you need to do is cut off some of the mop and glue it right onto your gnome.

Next you need to make your gnomes hat.  I took one of my socks and cut it into a long triangle shape.  Then use your hot glue gun to glue that cut area back into a new seam.  Once it is dried, turn the hat inside out so that cut line is on the inside of the hat.  Then pull your hat onto your gnome and down over the edge of the beard and clothes line.  Use some more hot glue to glue it all into place.  Then take your wooden bead and hot glue on his little nose.

Isn't he the cutest?  And you can make one to match your decor or for any holiday just by what material you use!
