These mugs are so easy to make and add such a nice touch to your morning or afternoon routine.  You can make them any color and they also make fabulous gifts!

Besides mugs, you can do plates, bowls, glassware, etc - most any type of similar material.  But if you plan to do a plate or bowl, make sure it is a decorative one and not one that you eat off of.

What you'll need:

nail polish assortment
a mug
clear acrylic spray sealer
painters or masking tape
a bowl of warm water
toothpick
cardboard or paper towel to let it dry on
gloves (optional)

Take your bowl of warm water and drizzle/drop some of your nail polish into the bowl.  I made a few drops all over the water with one color and then took a second color and dropped that in between.

Then quickly take your toothpick and give it a bit of a swirl to blend the colors more.

Then take your mug and dip it into the nail polish and water mixture, give it a bit of a turn and pull it back out of the water.  If you plan to drink out of your mug, keep the polish away from the top portion of the mug where you would drink from.  You can dip and re-dip your mug to add more colors to spots you missed or just to add more color.  Once you are happy with the look of your mug, set it on some cardboard or paper towels to dry.

Once it is completely dry, take some painters tape or masking tape and put it along the top edge of your cup where you will be drinking from.  This is to tape off the portion of the mug from getting sprayed with your acrylic sealer.

Then spray your mug with an acrylic spray sealer to protect the new paint on the mug.  Let the mug dry for 24 hours before you plan to use it.
